Our Superintendent, Dr. Alicia Henderson, will present the LCAP at the meeting. * Monday is the monthly board meeting, with open session starting at 4:30 pm. * Friday is a minimum day for teachers to work on second-trimester report cards. Hello Horicon Families, Here's the update for the week of March 3rd: *There will be no morning and afternoon bus on Thursday and no bus on Friday morning due to required bus driver training. There will be a Friday afternoon bus run. * On Thursday, March 20, we will have an all-school field trip to the Point Arena Lighthouse. If you plan on driving your child and/or others, please let Ms. Shanna know as soon as possible so we can figure out transportation. * This Friday is our second Horicon Family Movie Night. Come to the gym at 6:30 for a family-friendly movie. Admission is free, and concessions will be available to purchase. I recently met with a company called Appa, and I believe their program could make a real difference for our kids. Appa is a Mentorship Program featuring Certified Wellness Coaches who help students build essential life skills, boost motivation, and develop confidence. Although the program is specifically designed for 7th and 8th graders, after speaking with the founder, we’ve also opened the door for younger students to participate! This is an incredible opportunity for your child to receive personalized support from trained professionals who are dedicated to helping them succeed in and out of school. If you’re interested in signing your students up, please email me at clinker@horiconsd.org, and I’ll add them to the list. We are offering this 12-week program free of charge (the program may be extended if you'd like). Let’s work together to give our students the tools they need to thrive! Hello Horicon Families, Here's the update for the week of February 17: * There is no school on Monday and Tuesday in observance of President's Day. Additionally, there is no school on Wednesday as it is an unused storm day. * We will welcome students back on Thursday, February 20. * We want to remind our Horicon families that some illnesses are going around. To help keep everyone healthy, please remember: * If your child has a fever, they must stay home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications (like Tylenol or any other medicine that lowers temperature). * This helps prevent the spread of illness and keeps our school community safe. Hello Families, Here's the update for the week of February 10th: * Thank you to the site council for hosting a wonderful Family Movie Night this past Friday. It was a fantastic evening filled with family and friends. * There will be no afternoon bus run on Monday. * The monthly site council meeting will be this Monday at 3 pm in the library. * This month's board meeting is on Monday, with open session beginning at 4:30 pm. * Now that the gym is open, please make sure your child has non-marking sneakers for indoor recess and PE on Thursdays. * As we head into rainy weather, please send your child to school with a raincoat and umbrella. Some of our activities, like PE, recess, and art, take place across campus, and students must walk outside to get there. Have a great week, Horicon Hornets!
