Here is the weekly update for the week of May 4th:
* This week, our 5th and 6th-grade students will be participating in state testing. Please help your child do their best by ensuring they get plenty of rest and are present each day.
* As we head into Staff Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible team we have at Horicon. Every employee- teachers, aides, office staff, custodians, cooks, and support staff- is vital to our school and plays an important role in supporting our students each day. We encourage you to take a moment this week to share your appreciation with the staff who make a difference in your child’s life. A kind word or small gesture truly goes a long way. Thank you for being part of our community and for helping us celebrate the people who make Horicon such a special place.

* Esta semana, nuestros estudiantes de 5.º y 6.º grado participarán en las pruebas estatales. Por favor, ayuden a sus hijos a dar lo mejor de sí mismos asegurándose de que descansen lo suficiente y asistan a clases todos los días.
* Al dar inicio a la Semana de Agradecimiento al Personal, quiero tomarme un momento para reconocer al increíble equipo que tenemos en Horicon. Cada empleado —maestros, asistentes, personal de oficina, personal de limpieza, cocineros y personal de apoyo— es vital para nuestra escuela y desempeña un papel importante en el apoyo diario a nuestros estudiantes. Los invitamos a tomarse un momento esta semana para expresar su agradecimiento al personal que marca la diferencia en la vida de sus hijos. Una palabra amable o un pequeño gesto pueden tener un impacto verdaderamente significativo. Tomorrows lunch will be chicken fajitas, black beans, green salad and pineapple. Chicken Enchiladas will be April 28th.
The Discovery Fair shopping begins today. The link below will allow you to see what exciting things the fair has to offer. It also has a link to set up a eWallet for your students so they don't need to bring money to school. Please note purchases will begin on Wednesday evening at our Showcase for Learning. Students will also be allowed to purchase Thursday and Friday at the 10am recess. We are excited to be offering a wonderful showcase full of STEAM based learning kits.

Here's the update for the week of April 13th:
* Monday is the monthly site council meeting at 3:15 in the library.
* Monday is the monthly board meeting, with open session beginning at 5:00 pm.
* Wednesday is our Showcase of Learning. From 5:30-6:30, come see what your children have been working on and learning.
* This week is also the Scholastic Book Fair. Students will be able to purchase books on Wednesday, from 6:00-7:00 pm.
* On Friday, Ms. Hook's first and second-grade class will be going on a field trip to Starcross.

* El lunes se llevará a cabo la reunión mensual del Consejo Escolar a las 3:15 p. m. en la biblioteca.
* El lunes también tendrá lugar la reunión mensual de la Junta Directiva; la sesión abierta comenzará a las 5:00 p. m.

Here's the update for the week of April 6th:
* On Tuesday, April 7th, there will be a Middle School Planning Meeting from 3:30-5:00 pm in Ms. Ruegg's classroom.
* On Friday, Ms. Ashton's 3rd and 4th grade class will go on a field trip to the Exploratorium in San Francisco. They will be leaving at 7AM and returning around 5:30 PM. 3rd and 4th graders attending the trip, please be at the White Tail bus stop or at the Horicon school site no later than 7AM . Regular bus times are the same for all other classes attending a regular school day.

* El martes 7 de abril, se llevará a cabo una reunión de planificación para la Escuela Intermedia (Middle School) de 3:30 p. m. a 5:00 p. m. en el salón de clases de la Sra. Ruegg.
* El viernes, la clase de 3.º y 4.º grado de la Sra. Ashton realizará una excursión al Exploratorium en San Francisco. Saldrán a las 7:00 a. m. y regresarán alrededor de las 5:30 p. m. A los alumnos de 3.º y 4.º grado que asistan a la excursión, les pedimos que estén en la parada de autobús de White Tail o en las instalaciones de la escuela Horicon a más tardar a las 7:00 a. m. Los horarios habituales de autobús se mantienen sin cambios para todas las demás clases que asistan a un día escolar regular.
