One of the best ways to keep your child interested in school is for YOU to take an interest in their schooling! Ask your child how their first couple weeks of school are going. What did they learn today? What's their favorite subject? Who do they sit next to in class? What did they have for lunch? Your interest and encouragement helps students establish a positive relationship with learning. Here's the update for the week of September 1:

* There is no school on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day

* For middle school families, there is a meeting on Tuesday at 4:30 in the classroom to discuss the End-of-Year Field Trip and the fundraising necessary to fund the trip.

* We would like to thank the South Coast Fire Department for coming onto campus on Friday to teach our students about fire safety.

* Families, please remember that toys from home are not allowed at school.

Here is the update for the week of August 25:

We had a wonderful first week of school with 100% attendance! Thank you, families, for ensuring a fantastic start to the school year.

A few reminders for this year:

* PE is every Thursday. Please make sure your child wears athletic shoes. Rubber, non-marking soles are essential for the condition of our gym floor and student safety.

* Candy and toys from home are not allowed. Both will be confiscated if found.

* Please return your back-to-school paperwork as soon as possible.

¡Tuvimos una maravillosa primera semana de clases con un 100% de asistencia! Gracias, familias, por asegurar un fantástico comienzo de año escolar.

Algunos recordatorios para este año:

* La clase de Educación Física es todos los jueves. Por favor, asegúrense de que su hijo/a use calzado deportivo. Las suelas de goma que no dejen marcas son esenciales para el buen estado del piso del gimnasio y la seguridad de los estudiantes.

* No se permiten dulces ni juguetes de casa. Si se encuentran, serán confiscados.

* Por favor, devuelvan su documentación de regreso a clases lo antes posible.

~Families~ PE starts tomorrow, Thursday, and students must wear athletic shoes. Tie-ons are preferred for running, so they don't fly off. Rubber, non-marking soles are essential for the condition of our Gym Floor and student safety. PE is every Thursday this year. 👟

Tomorrow is the first day of school and we are all excited. I checked out all the classrooms today and am excited to report that they all look so wonderful and freshly ready for students. We are sitting up a photobooth behind our Horicon School sign for first day of school pictures. Please share them to our Horicon Facebook page and you never know they may end up in our yearbook. Can't wait to see you all tomorrow! Breakfast is pancakes and lunch will be hotdogs.

Mañana es el primer día de clases y estamos todos emocionados. Hoy revisé todas las aulas y me emociona informarles que se ven maravillosas y listas para recibir a los estudiantes. Estamos instalando un fotomatón detrás del letrero de la escuela Horicon para las fotos del primer día de clases. Por favor, compártanlas en nuestra página de Facebook de Horicon y nunca se sabe si terminarán en nuestro anuario. ¡Qué ganas de verlos mañana! You might think the first few days are all about introductions and silly games, but there's so much more going on. Students are developing academic routines, gaining foundational knowledge, and developing meaningful connections with their friends and teachers. Hello Horicon Famliies, Here's the update for the week of June 9th: * The After-School Program runs daily until 4:00 pm. * Monday is the monthly site council meeting at 3:00 pm. *Monday is the monthly board meeting, with open session beginning at 4:30 pm. * Tuesday, at 12:40, is the TK/K graduation in Ms. Sacha's classroom. * Tuesday, at 6:00 pm, is 8th grade graduation in the cafetorium. * Wednesday is the last day of school. At 8:30, we will have End-Of-Year Awards for all students in the cafetorium, followed by field day, starting at 10:00 am. Dismissal is 12:20 pm . * Thank you all for a wonderful 2024-2025 school year. We are proud of everyone's growth and all of the memories that have been created. We look forward to seeing you for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 20th. * Have a fantastic summer, everyone!
